Lewis and Clark Principal
I have worked as an educator for 17 years. I was a classroom teacher for 15 years. I have served for two years as the Assistant Principal of Lewis and Clark Elementary. I have worked in Tulsa Public Schools for the past 13 years. As a lifelong learner, each task has enabled me to grow and develop the skills necessary for the demands of the learning environments of today. I am committed to ensuring that all students have high quality educational experiences. I also want to build powerful relationships with teachers, staff, parents, and community partners.
Greetings, from LaKinda Houston!
I grew up in Oklahoma, and have known since my own school days at Sunnyside Elementary, that I wanted to be an educator. My favorite teacher, Mrs. Spire, first encouraged me to become a teacher in fourth grade. I am proud of being an educator, and furthermore, proud to be a wife, mother, and grandmother. Three of my own children are school-age and attend Tulsa Public Schools. I am passionate about the children I serve, and consider each day in education a blessing!
I attended Langston University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I continued my professional growth by attending Southern Nazarene University to earn a Master of Administration in Educational Leadership degree. Throughout my 17 years as an educator, I have been an instructional coach, and taught various elementary grade levels from first through fourth grade.
It is a privilege to be a member of Team Tulsa, and it is an honor to serve students and families at Lewis and Clark Elementary. Lewis and Clark has a school culture focused on academics, character, behavior, and collaboration. I am very fortunate and am committed to carry on with the high expectations and practices that are Lewis and Clark traditions.
