As we transition from uniforms to a free‑dress policy, our aim is to maintain the safe learning environment that Tulsa Public Schools values. Students should wear clean, well‑fitting clothing that is appropriate for school activities and respectful of peers.
These expectations reflect district-wide standards to support a respectful, productive, and inclusive school community as we move to free dress.
Tops
- Tops must cover the torso, including midriff, back, and undergarments;
- Straps need to be at least two‑finger widths.
- Clothing must not display profanity, drug, alcohol, or gang-related images or messages.
Bottoms
- Pants, skirts, shorts—must reach mid‑thigh or fingertip length and be worn at the waist.
- Sagging, excessively baggy garments, sheer fabrics, or pajamas are prohibited.
Shoes
- No open-toed shoes
- Athletic shoes required for PE
- Shoes should offer proper protection—no flip‑flops, house shoes, or Heelys—and athletic-style footwear is encouraged.
Outerwear/Jackets and Coats
- Head coverings and accessories must follow TPS guidelines: no hats or hoods indoors, minimal jewelry, and accessories must be safe and non‑distracting
- Heavy coats need to stay in lockers.
